Dr. Kareem Edouard is a children’s media producer, educator, and researcher working at the intersection of storytelling, STEM, and cultural representation. He is the co-founder of Ole Greens Studios, a creative studio focused on developing children’s media that centers Black boys as thinkers, makers, and imaginative problem solvers across live-action and animation. He is the Executive Producer of MayNERD’s Wild World of Science, a live-action STEM series that brings science learning to young audiences through culturally grounded storytelling, humor, and hands-on inquiry. Kareem also serves as Creative Producer on the PBS KIDS animated series Work It Out Wombats!, contributing to stories that blend computational thinking, collaboration, and everyday problem solving. He is additionally the co-creator and Executive Producer of Built From Scratch, an animated series that follows boys traveling the world, learning design and building practices from communities while solving real-world challenges. Across his media work, Kareem is deeply committed to addressing the lack of diverse representation in children’s media, particularly for Black boys in STEM-focused narratives. His projects intentionally push against narrow portrayals by showing Black boys as curious, creative, and intellectually engaged. Kareem is also an Assistant Professor of STEM Education and Learning Technologies and Director of the ILLEST Lab, where he designs informal learning environments that support Black male STEM engagement. He founded the Black Male Animation Lab to create early exposure, mentorship, and career pathways for Black boys and young men entering animation and creative technology fields.
